As a Greystar resident you have access to a wealth of amenities both inside our apartment complexes and the surrounding areas outdoors. Come rain or shine, here are some of the things you can do when you live near a park:

Participate in the Most Popular Outdoor Sports

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 150 minutes of physical activity over a week is the recommended amount of time adults should be active for to stay healthy. For most people, reaching that quota is easily done through walking throughout the day, while others prefer to count the time they spend in the gym or the great outdoors. Try as we might to come up with new and exciting ways to work out, two of the most popular forms of exercise remain running and cycling; with their widely documented list of benefits it’s easy to see why.

Wherever you are along your fitness journey, when you choose to live in a Greystar property you get instant access to a vibrant community of residents and the option to join a pre-existing sports group or create your own. With on-site storage for your bicycle in most of our locations, riding along the nearest bike trail can become a stress-free and regular occurrence. If you prefer jogging to cycling, there are countless running trails in every city or state that are easily found, a great example being Parq on Speer in Denver which is located close enough to the Golden Triangle neighborhood for avid sprinters to take in the sights and local attractions as they work up a sweat.

Spend Time with Family

The busier we get the harder it becomes to spend time with family, conflicting schedules and prior engagements can mean planning family fun activities slowly makes it way to the bottom of the list. For some, having one day a week where the entire family can come together or committing to a monthly day out is a clever way to combat this. Whether your family consists of two people, four, yourself and your pet, living near a park has its uses. It is the perfect way to get some fresh air and take a break from spending all day indoors or sitting behind a screen without spending too much money.

Finding a home with Greystar significantly improves your chances of living in a pet-friendly apartment, and for those fortunate enough to be a pet parent the importance of living near a green space becomes a key priority. Search for an off-leash dog park near you and let your pet run free whilst you take a leisurely stroll or opt for a dog friendly park where you can both walk among other pets and their owners.

Enjoy Outdoor Recreational Activities

Living near a green space is great way to try out new hobbies and activities. While picnics are always favorable in the summer, with a few minor tweaks to your attire and food selection they can also be a year-round activity. Think multiple layers, your fluffiest hat and scarf combination, a cozy puffer jacket and a freshly made flask of piping hot chocolate to warm you up from the inside out. Pack a picnic basket or backpack with your favorite snacks and find the perfect spot in the park to sit and watch the world go by.

Another option for an outdoor recreational activity that can be enjoyed alone or as part of a larger group would be to take advantage of the nature trails in your area. Greystar apartments in Arizona have the added benefit of being near some of the most beautiful nature trails. For instance, if hiking and rock climbing are more your speed, look no further than the statuesque Superstition Mountains, just a short drive away from Mesa Apartments. Other outdoor recreation hot spots include Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake and Desert Arroyo Park, all of which offer hiking trails and awe-inspiring views.

Choose one of these activities or make it your goal to try them all. Take a look at our area guides for more inspiration for fun things to do in your city.
