Public Transportation

The Elizabeth / Cherry neighborhood offers strong public transit connections through the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). The CityLYNX Gold Line streetcar runs directly through the neighborhood with four stations. The streetcar operates seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. with service every 20 minutes, providing fare-free access to Uptown Charlotte. Multiple CATS bus routes serve major corridors like Central Avenue and Monroe Road, including express routes during peak hours for faster downtown commutes.

Airports

Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is about a 15-20 minute drive away, depending on traffic conditions. CLT serves as a major hub for American Airlines and offers extensive domestic and international flight options. The airport's proximity makes it practical for both business and leisure travel, while ground transportation options include rental cars, taxis, and ride-sharing services.

Cars and driving

Residents have short commute times to Uptown Charlotte, located just three miles southwest. The area provides access to major thoroughfares, including Central Avenue, Monroe Road, and Elizabeth Avenue, which connect to the broader Charlotte metropolitan area. Independence Boulevard and other key highways are readily accessible for longer commutes. While traffic can build during peak hours on main corridors, the neighborhood's central location keeps most destinations within reasonable driving distance throughout the Charlotte region.

Pedestrians and bicycles

Many daily errands can be accomplished on foot. The neighborhood connects to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, a multi-mile paved trail system for various recreation activities that features art installations and fitness stations. While dedicated bike lanes are limited within the neighborhood itself, the greenway provides safe cycling routes connecting to other parts of Charlotte. Local parks offer additional paths along Little Sugar Creek, and the neighborhood's pedestrian-friendly streets make it convenient to reach local shops, restaurants, and transit stops.
