Although it’s the second-largest city in Missouri and one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country, St. Louis has plenty of wide open spaces. Covering well over a thousand acres, Forest Park in particular is a fantastic spot for recreation within city limits. The park offers a variety of walking and biking paths in addition to a golf course, ice skating rink and 19 lighted tennis courts.

Forest Park is also home to the Missouri History Museum, which has featured exhibits on everything from professional football to the era of prohibition. Art connoisseurs will be captivated by the nearby Saint Louis Art Museum, known for its extensive collection of ancient, Native-American and African-American compositions. Or take a stroll through the Jewel Box, a spectacular art-deco style botanical conservatory built in 1936.
