Like any big city, Denver has its share of neighborhoods with nicknames lovingly used by the locals. The trendy River North Art District is one of them: RiNo.

In RiNo, those with a creative mindset will feel right at home. The first thing you’ll notice in the neighborhood are all the murals and walls of graffiti art. For RiNo, graffiti art isn’t vandalism – it’s street art, and that’s a form of artistic expression. Those masterpieces blend with the rows of experimental art galleries, restaurants and breweries.

If you can’t be defined or put into a box, RiNo is where you’ll feel most alive. And, if that’s not enough, we are highlighting three other Denver neighborhoods (Uptown, Platt Park and LoHi) in a four-part series.

Eat and Drink Your Way Through RiNo

The colorful walls around RiNo bear more than just beautiful art. They mark an area with many popular restaurants, bars, cafés and breweries. From the famous Blue Moon Brewery to the casually cool Crema Café, the neighborhood helps you whet your whistle, get a caffeine fix and satisfy your hunger. Whether you’re a coffee drinker, foodie or beer snob, RiNo will have you curious and salivating every day.

  • Cart-Driver: Home to wood-fired pizzas, fresh oysters, seasonal plates and cocktails, Cart-Driver serves the good times from noon to midnight seven days a week.
  • Work & Class: Down-to-earth dining and an eclectic menu of American and Latin American food can be found at this local favorite.
  • Crema Coffee House: Quality coffee, a killer PB&J and burritos are waiting for you here. This local coffee house has a cool vibe that reminds you of your favorite java joint back home.
  • Denver Central Market: A gourmet marketplace and food hall, Denver Central Market is home to many of the city’s favorite dining destinations. Find local vendors, ice cream shops, bakeries and so much more in this market.
  • Finn’s Manor:  A cocktail bar and food truck hub, Finn’s Manor is the place to enjoy specialty drinks and the best of Denver. Spend time exploring the many signature drinks at this popular RiNo spot.
  • Improper City: Denver loves restaurants and bars with an outdoor patio, and no place showcases that more than Improper City. With rows of food trucks, event space and a variety of drinks, Improper City is a great place to make the most of your day or night.
  • Great Divide Brewery: Award-winning and downright delicious, Great Divide Brewery is a top-notch craft brewery.
  • Blue Moon Brewery: It’s not all micro-breweries and independent names in Denver. RiNo is also the home of the famous Blue Moon Brewery.
  • The Infinite Monkey Theorem: Canned or in a bottle, the wines at The Infinite Monkey Theorem are in abundance. Visit the taproom and spend a day trying to find your favorite.
  • Ironton Distiller & Crafthouse: When they say there are a lot of spirits and liquors here, they mean it. Tour the distillery and enjoy a drink while you grab a bite from one of the many food trucks parked nearby.

The neighborhood also has a popular food truck scene with some of the best in the nation setting up shop here.

RiNo’s Artistic Expression and Events

RiNo’s biggest trademark is its beautiful art. That distinctive look makes it the perfect place for art galleries and events. If you must surround yourself with creatives and the joys of art, RiNo has everything you need. Take a graffiti tour and visit a newly opened art gallery. Whatever you do, you’ll find yourself inspired by creativity.

  • Graffiti Tours: Denver is home to a various street art but there’s none like the walls in RiNo. Join a tour and see the expression of color and art.
  • Art Walks: The first Friday of every month marks the neighborhood’s art walk, a festival-like experience that invites you to explore galleries and meet other RiNo natives.
  • CRUSH Walls: Celebrate the rock ‘n’ roll charm of RiNo at Crush Walls. The annual festival turns the neighborhood into an exhibit by showcasing new street art from a mix of local and traveling artists.
  • Plinth Gallery: If you’re a fan of contemporary art, Plinth Gallery has you covered. The gallery has regularly rotating exhibitions, various artists and workshops.

Denver's Light Rail

Getting around is easy because, just like the rest of Denver, RiNo is extremely bike-friendly, offers a central location near several light rail stations and allows multiple ride share services. So if you feel a vibe of creativity and artistry calling out to you, it’s probably because you belong in RiNo.

Whether you live here for the Instagram-friendly backdrops or to immerse yourself in the artistic culture of Denver, the neighborhood will welcome you with open arms.
