At Greystar, we believe that our people are the heart of our success. As the primary pillar of excellence within our company, we are dedicated to shaping and preparing individuals for every step of their career journey, regardless of the path they choose within our organization.

No matter where you start, we offer a variety of tailored resources to guide you. Here are three different ways we support our team members as they advance in their careers.

1.  Mentorship and Support

Mentorship is a fundamental part of our approach at Greystar. We understand that finding your way and determining your career passions can be challenging. That's why we've cultivated a culture of guidance and encouragement, where seasoned professionals across all lines of business are readily available to share insights and provide valuable advice to team members at every stage of their journey.

Additionally, we offer specialized mentorship programs like THRIVE through our Women's Inclusion Network. THRIVE pairs team members from a variety of backgrounds with mentors across the company to provide tailored support and encouragement. Through opportunities like this, employees can develop new skills, build meaningful connections, and discover their niche within Greystar.

2.  Learning Experiences

We're committed to providing continuous learning and development opportunities to our team members. Through initiatives like cross-functional projects and in-house training programs, we aim to create an environment where learning is encouraged. Team members have the ability to collaborate with colleagues from different lines of business to gain valuable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of our industry.

Cross-functional projects facilitate collaboration across departments, promoting teamwork and a comprehensive view of our business operations. These projects allow individuals to broaden their perspectives, enhance their problem-solving skills, and build relationships with colleagues from many different backgrounds.

3.  Advancement Opportunities

There are so many opportunities for advancement at Greystar. Whether team members want to climb the ranks within their current department or explore new roles and business lines, we support them every step of the way.

We offer clear pathways for promotion and career development. Our performance-based approach ensures that hard work and dedication are recognized and rewarded, enabling team members to ascend to higher roles within their chosen field.

At the same time, we also encourage exploration and cross-functional movement within the organization. Team members are empowered to leverage their skills and experiences in new areas, facilitating personal growth and broadening their professional horizons.

In the end, our primary goal is to help individuals unlock their potential and succeed within our organization. But don't just take our word for it.

Below, read inspiring testimonials from our team members as they share about their journeys within Greystar.

"My journey at Greystar has been transformative. Starting my career on the Office of the CEO team gave me a vast outlook into all aspects of the organization, allowing me to observe, learn from, and collaborate with a variety of individuals, significantly enriching my knowledge of Greystar and my skill set. The transition into my new role wasn’t just a personal endeavor but a collective effort supported by my previous managers. Their support and commitment to growth within Greystar were instrumental in propelling me forward in my career trajectory. The experience gained in my previous role equipped me with invaluable organizational and communication skills, laying a solid foundation for my transition into Talent Acquisition. I am grateful for the support and mentorship I've received along the way, which has prepared me for my most recent role and enriched my professional journey."

- Abby Catterton, Talent Acquisition Analyst

"Over the course of eight years with Greystar, I tend to reflect on my journey with a smile. I often think about the dedication and aptitude it took to remain present, transformative, and invested in my development. Planting my flag as a Management Coordinator in the Mid-Atlantic office, I quickly realized that Greystar was something worth investing in. Noticing where I could make an impact and grow into my professional self, I interacted with strong leaders within the Northeast Division. Having the sponsorship of my divisional leaders, I was groomed to lead talent for a division that spans over ten states - a thought I would have never imagined. Greystar’s intentional effort to have the correct people in place, leading the charge, in the correct business lines, has allowed me to soar. Purposeful mentorship, sponsorship, and natural collaboration are woven into our DNA and are reflected in our Pillars and Core Values - which keep me energized and focused. This inspires me and my team to do our part in securing top talent and molding our culture into something worthy of celebrating."

- Kenneth Fishe, Talent Acquisition Manager, Northeast

"My journey at Greystar has been one of self-discovery and professional growth. I started in 2019 as a member of the Charleston front desk team in an administrative support role. Since then, I've been on a continuous path of growth, transitioning through various roles within the organization. In March 2021, I moved into Development and Construction Accounts Payable as a Management Coordinator, where I learned more about the financial intricacies of our operations. This role not only expanded my skill set but also provided me with a newfound appreciation for the inner workings of our business. In September of that year, I joined the Greystar Enterprise Services team as a management coordinator. I supported senior leaders like Chris Moltke-Hansen and Scott Berka, who inspired and motivated me to excel. Their mentorship and support were instrumental in helping me navigate through new responsibilities and challenges. My journey took another turn in July 2023 when I transitioned into the role of Marketing Analyst on the Brand and Insights team. This move not only aligned with my educational background but also reignited my passion for marketing. I have thoroughly enjoyed returning to a field that I love, armed with newfound experiences and knowledge from my previous roles.”

- Delaney Humphreys, Marketing Analyst, Brand & Insights

"I joined Greystar as a newcomer to the real estate industry, but thankfully, the support from my team made my onboarding very easy. Initially, I learned from team members in the Talent Acquisition team and the wider people and culture team. Later, collaborating with the US Early Careers team allowed me to leverage their successful Early Careers Programmes and adapt them for the European market. This knowledge-sharing approach is something that I see engrained in Greystar's global culture. Understanding the needs of each European country through our local teams has opened doors to new Early Careers initiatives and programmes. Seeing the collaboration across our immediate and wider teams fuels my motivation for personal and professional growth. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds as I continue to evolve alongside the team at Greystar."

- Baz Patel, Early Careers Programme Manager, London

"My Greystar journey began in June of 2018 as a receptionist for the HQ corporate office. This position allowed me to meet several Greystar employees and explore the many opportunities available for when it came time to transition to a new role. My supervisors were my biggest supporters in finding the right career path within the company. In May of 2019, I was offered the position to be a Project Coordinator within the Carolinas Construction team. My team provided me with a wide range of training and tools to succeed as a project coordinator. This role has allowed me to acquire new skills, expand my knowledge, and stay ahead in the fast paced construction world. The opportunities and support I have received from Greystar since day one have been instrumental in shaping my career. I have been fortunate to have experienced mentors who have provided valuable insights, shared their expertise, and helped me navigate challenges. I am so proud to work for an inclusive and diverse company that is committed to recognizing and rewarding hard work and dedication."

- Whitney John, Project Coordinator, Development & Construction

"I started my journey with Greystar Student as a community assistant for a new property. While navigating the challenges of a new acquisition, I found myself surrounded by hardworking people dedicated to maintaining a positive and professional culture! It is through this support and the culture of the community that I was able to progress to Leasing Professional and now Leasing and Marketing Manager. Throughout this process, I found that I was most prepared by my team and the support of other Greystar teams. There is no 'I' in this industry, and that is what has motivated me to continue my journey with Greystar!"

- Alyssa Franklin, Leasing & Marketing Manager

"My experience with Greystar has been wonderful! I started as a concierge and now I'm an assistant community manager. The support I've received from my team across different properties has been invaluable, both personally and professionally. I began at WaterWall Place, moved up to leasing, then gained cross-training as an assistant manager at Prose Cypress Creek. Now, I'm at Prose KTX, working with Emilie Richardson, who was my manager at WaterWall! It's incredible to have her guidance again. I'm thrilled to be growing with Greystar and look forward to continuing this journey!"

- Christopher Echevarria, Assistant Community Manager
