BIOGRAPHY

James O'Brien is Managing Director on the Portfolio Management team, where he is responsible for leading the two most recent value-add funds in the Greystar Equity Partners (GEP) series, GEP IX and GEP X. James is responsible for the day-to-day activities and strategies of the two funds through all aspects of fund and portfolio execution. He serves as the primary point of contact for investors and Greystar team members alike and is actively involved in the planning and fundraising of both funds and subsequent vehicles. 

James joined Greystar in 2016 as a member of the Greystar Equity Partners Portfolio Management team after working in various corporate finance and investment banking roles. Prior to Greystar, James worked in investment banking at both UBS and Deutsche Bank in New York City as a Vice President. Prior to that, he worked in various corporate finance positions at KPMG in Washington, DC. James is actively involved in various industry groups, including the Urban Land Institute and a variety of community organizations. 

James received his bachelor’s of Business Administration from James Madison University and his Master’s of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
