Bar carts are a fun addition to any home that let you add your own flair and fun spirit into a room. No matter your taste or preference, learn how to create a one-of-a-kind set up that will have you entertaining friends and family in no time.

Let’s Get Started
Before you decorate, you’ll need a table, cart or tray as a base for your bar cart. Mix and match colors and materials found in your apartment to create fluidity in your space. For instance, match the wood grain of your floors to the sides of your cart or the top of the bar to your kitchen backsplash. Next, you’ll need a few additional basics to complete the set-up, which can be anything from a framed picture of your favorite place or a stacked pile of your favorite books. Tip: Search Facebook Marketplace or your local thrift store to find a cart that’s unique for you!

For the Wine Connoisseur
Once you have the basics loaded up, you’re ready to get your cart rocking and rolling. For wine lovers, consider adding a minimal wine rack to hold a few of your favorite bottles, if it’s not already built into your cart. You can also add a glass organizer to hold accessories, including bottle openers, coasters and bottle toppers. For an added twist of fun, visit your local vintage store for a glass vase and keep it on top of your cart next to a permanent marker. Then, as you enjoy a bottle with friends and family, use the permanent marker to write the date you enjoyed the bottle onto the cork and keep it in the vase as a memento.

For the At-Home Mixologist
If wine isn’t your drink of choice, not to worry. Budding mixologists and professionals alike can benefit from a great home bar stacked with an assortment of your favorite goodies. Consider adding mini mason jars full of funky garnishes, including candied ginger, cinnamon sticks, dried edible flowers or gourmet flavored salt. When you’re ready, add in your spirits and mixers on the bottom shelf of the cart to keep it balanced. For added safety, purchase anti-tip wall anchors to protect your cart from tipping, and if you have children, consider only using your bar cart to store drinking accessories and use locked kitchen cabinets to safely store spirits and wine.

For the Family-Friendly Home
Not into drinks? Not a problem! A bar cart can be fit for the entire family (including furry family members). Add a houseplant on the top shelf to create vertical attraction and a ceramic dog treat container next to it. Then, add in jars of your favorite shelf-stable snacks like cashews, dried fruit or prepackaged chips and cookies.

You’re now ready to host wine nights, cheese tastings, DIY mixology classes with friends and more with your new home bar cart! To find more home decorating tips, visit the Greystar @Home blog
