Atlanta is a bustling city, filled with interesting things to see and do, a large number of major businesses, and excellent restaurants. Lately, Atlanta has become a hotspot for businesses, and as a result, a large number of people have migrated to the city. If you are moving to Atlanta and are searching for a place to live, Greystar offers a number of apartments in Atlanta of various layouts to fulfill any need, each offering unique features to make your life more comfortable.

Before moving to the city, there are a few things you should know about what it’s like to live in Atlanta. We’ve prepared a city guide for you to give you an idea on what it’s like to live in Atlanta:

A Car is Preferred, But Things are Changing

Roughly 100,000 people are moving to Atlanta every year. For the longest time, Atlanta was the fastest growing metropolitan area in the country. With so many people coming to Atlanta, the city has begun investing more money into its public transportation system, MARTA Rail and MARTA Buses. The system has become more reliable over the years; however, be aware that the system does not reach every part of the city. Check with your Greystar apartment community to see if a MARTA bus or rail line is nearby.

Walking is an Option for Local Trips

If you like to stretch your legs, you’re in luck! Atlanta might be too large and sprawling to walk from one part to another, but if you have a local destination in mind, there are plenty of walking paths to get you from where you are to where you want to go. Individual neighborhoods are self-contained but offer pedestrian friendly routes. For instance, you could drive to Downtown and walk around to grab a quick brunch, do some shopping, and then hop in the car to head back to your Greystar apartment.

Bored? There’s Almost Always Something to Do

As we mentioned, there are a ton of people coming to Atlanta every year. Like a good host, Atlanta has rolled out the welcome mat and assembled a dizzying list of things to do. Not only are there plenty of options, but there is also a staggering amount of diversity in your choices. Love science fiction or fantasy? DragonCon is one of the largest and most exciting conventions in the country. Atlanta also boasts a large Gay Pride festival, parade every year, and welcomes everyone to be a part of this exciting event. Music Midtown is another exciting festival, bringing together marquee artists and up-and-comers for multiple days of music. This is just a small sample of the exciting events that take place in Atlanta every year, but you can also find plenty of live music, events, and celebrations taking place around the city almost every day!

The Great Outdoors are Greater in Atlanta

While the city of Atlanta may seem endless, there are plenty of natural escapes that outdoorsy types will appreciate. Take advantage of Atlanta’s comfortable weather and float down the Chattahoochee River or walk around one of the many parks. There are nature trails just outside the city at Lake Lanier, Stone Mountain, and the North Georgia Mountains. You can also get your fill of nature while staying in the city proper thanks to a visit to Piedmont Park, Chastain Park, or the Atlanta BeltLine.

ATL to Anywhere!

Another benefit of living in Atlanta is the proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The busiest airport in the country (measured by passengers boarding), ATL is a gateway to the rest of the country and the world. Chances are if you’re flying an international flight anywhere in the south, you’ll be routed to Atlanta first. For residents living in Atlanta, you can skip that extra leg and head to your destination directly!
