Greystar Receives Top Sustainability Scores in 2025 GRESB Benchmark
CHARLESTON, SC – October 23, 2025 – Greystar, a global leader in the investment, development, and management of rental housing has again been recognized by the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) for excellence in sustainability. As part of this year's results, five of Greystar's vehicles earned five stars -- the highest possible rating -- and eight vehicles received four-star ratings.
With a 6 percent increase in average GRESB score for vehicles submitted in 2025 compared to 2024, the results mark continued improvement and speak to Greystar's goal towards sustainability initiatives that drive value for stakeholders.
Since Greystar began participating in GRESB in 2014, the company has increased the number of vehicles participating and achieved meaningful score improvements. Greystar’s average score across all vehicles submitted globally in 2025 is 83 points, above the GRESB average score of 79 points, and the majority of Greystar vehicles (69 percent) were above their peer group average.
"We are proud to continue to be recognized by GRESB for our leadership in sustainability. Year after year, we focus on making meaningful progress and 2025's top ratings reflect our sustainability efforts and our ongoing dedication to drive value for our investors and vehicles," said Cope Willis, Managing Director of Sustainability at Greystar.
Europe
Greystar has been operational in Europe since 2013 and as of October 2025 manages assets across eight countries. Since launch, our European platform has focused on tackling the region’s structural undersupply of high-quality rental housing by investing in, developing and operating Build to Rent and Purpose-Built Student Accommodation. We believe these efforts address growing demand driven by urbanization and demographic change, while also embedding sustainability risk into the way homes are planned, built and managed.
The 2025 GRESB results highlight the strength of this approach, with two of Greystar’s European vehicles achieving the highest 5-star rating for the first time -- recognition of our goal in creating both sustainable buildings and resilient communities.
“We believe Greystar’s success in Europe is built on combining long-term investment, development and operational expertise to deliver much-needed rental housing that responds to local market needs. Our goal is to incorporate sustainability in every part of our strategy -- from planning and design through to construction and ongoing management -- striving to create resilient communities that deliver lasting value for both residents and investors,” said Philip Hirst, Director of Sustainability, Europe at Greystar.

Its modern apartments are complemented by shared amenities and professional management, helping residents feel part of a thriving community. In the 2025 GRESB results, Orange House achieved a 5-star rating, with 100% of its portfolio certified under the GPR Gebouw green building standard and its data certified to ISAE 3000. We believe this recognition underlines how the OurDomain model combines sustainability and service to help deliver resilient, future-ready housing in Dutch cities.
European Venture
A pan-European residential venture has also been awarded a 5-star rating in the 2025 GRESB assessment. Its portfolio spans six countries – Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom – and comprises more than 11,000 apartments and beds. With assets fully certified under leading standards including AirRated in the UK, the House Performance Index in Ireland and HQE in France, we believe the vehicle demonstrates how Greystar delivers both the scale of housing that European cities urgently need and the sustainability performance that ensures long-term resilience.
