Houston is a large city. So large, in fact, that living in one area of the city is a vastly different experience than living in another. At Greystar, we have put together a number of tips for living in Houston. If you’re planning on moving to the area, discover what it’s like to live in Houston’s Energy Corridor. This flourishing area of the city is home to large businesses, great places to live, and plenty of things to do.

Green Corridor

You might think that the Energy Corridor, being in a major city and with so much focus on business, would be a dreary place to live. However, the Energy Corridor actually features a lush landscape of parks, trails, and greenways. In fact, the area has over 26,000 acres of urban parks. Some of our favorite green areas include George Bush Park, Terry Hersey Park, and Bear Creek Park.

It’s Business Time

The Energy Corridor is home to some of the biggest businesses in the world. Accordingly, much of the area is dominated by office space. The Energy Corridor houses a staggering 20 million square feet of office space. The major energy corporations employ the largest number of people, but there are plenty of other businesses always looking for talented new workers.

A Great Place to Grow Up

If you have children, you’ll be happy to know that the Houston Energy Corridor has placed a large investment in much more than just industry. The area has three good school districts, as well as a few private school options. For higher education options, both the University of Houston and Rice University are located nearby.

All Work and Plenty of Play!

After you’re done with work for the day, you will be pleased to find out that the Energy Corridor has plenty of entertainment options for you to choose. Golfers will discover plenty of great courses or head to the local Top Golf to work on their game. Group bike riding is a popular activity, and after you’re done working up an appetite, head to one of the great restaurants in the area.
