Apartments and Communities April 1, 2017

Greystar prides itself on innovation, and as we continue to expand into new markets, our next development is truly out of this world. Earth has treated us well, but it’s time to start exploring new horizons, both to preserve our planet’s resources for generations to come and to continue providing the customer experience for which we are known worldwide.

On April 1, 2018, Greystar will begin lease-up on The Domes at Mars. Partnering with space travel pioneers including SpaceY and NAsSAu, Greystar plans to be one of the first companies on the Red Planet.

The first explorers to Mars will need a comfortable home, and Greystar has become synonymous with comfort, style, and desirable locations. As astronauts begin exploring this new territory, Greystar will have well-furnished, spacious apartment homes ready for them. After all, site selection is hard work, and we’re sure that this demographic  will appreciate a hot shower and some stellar views at the end of the day (which, of course, is 39 minutes and 35 seconds longer than a day here on Earth).

Of course, at Greystar we don’t just offer a place to live — we create spaces people want to call home. Since we know many astronauts will be longing for their Earthbound family and friends, The Domes will have advanced high-speed Internet access with the low latency of just 3 minutes to communicate with people back on the third rock from the sun. We’ve also planned a robust, organized sport calendar in our reduced-gravity fitness center, which includes higher-than-regulation basketball hoops to prevent too-easy dunks and layups. Enclosed swimming spheres will shield you from that pesky radiation — though our universal concierge will be happy to recommend the proper SPF. And resident events like freeze-dried food tastings help create a sense of community.

For those first colonists looking to shuttle back to Earth on a regular basis, Greystar offers an express rocket pad. Depending on solar winds, space traffic, then-current distance between Earth and Mars, and other factors, residents can expect the commute to take just 150–300 days. Rockets will feature a fully equipped gym designed for zero-g exercises so travelers can maintain that slim Martian figure on the go.

Those interested in applying for one of these limited-edition Martian apartments can do so beginning next year, April 1, 2018, and apartments will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applicants at The Domes at Mars must be able to prove they are physically and mentally equipped to handle space travel, love the color red, and have a healthy appreciation for pranks.
