There’s No Place Like Home… in the Emerald City

Flying monkeys. Tons of green grass. A yellow brick road paved with good intentions.

You’ll discover that there’s no place like home when you take up residence at a Greystar apartment for rent in Seattle, aka the Emerald City.

Unlike the fictional town in “The Wizard of Oz,” Seattle’s flying monkeys can be found safely harbored at the popular Woodland Park Zoo, also home to more than 1,000 other animals representing nearly 300 species large and small. The 92-acre campus boasts award-winning exhibits and tons of public events that will drive adults and children bananas. Although you won’t find lions, tigers or bears at the Seattle Aquarium, you will discover a 400,000-gallon tank chock-full of salmon, sharks, skates and rockfish as well as exhibits putting cowfish, tufted puffins, river otters, seals and Pacific octopuses in the spotlight. It’s all near our Seattle luxury apartments.

Keeping with the animal theme, The Crocodile, aka Crocodile Café, is the well-known music club in the Belltown neighborhood that has played host to Mudhoney, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Cheap Trick, R.E.M., Yoko Ono and many other acts. The establishment is owned by Alice in Chains’ Sean Kinney.

Green with envy yet? You should be. Especially when you take into account that one of the United States’ oldest continuously operated public farmers’ markets also is right around the corner from your Seattle apartment community. Pike Place Market features a variety of unique and quirky shops, mom-and-pop restaurants such as Athenian Inn, Bacco Café and Pike Place Chowder and one of the oldest head shops in the city. Fishmongers, fresh produce stands and craft stalls round out the selection of nifty treats overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront, but it’s the “flying fish” (a king salmon thrown around for fun behind the counter) and Rachel the Piggy Bank sculpture that will really grab your attention.  Georgia Gerber created Rachel to sit beneath the Public Market Clock and Sign at the corner of Pike Place. You’ve got to see it to believe it! As a fun side fact, Gerber also created the Boomer dog sculpture in front of Greystar’s Towne apartments for rent in Seattle.

That’s only the beginning of things to see when you are a resident of our Seattle apartments for rent. Whether you live at 1611 on Lake Union or Towne, part of the Queen Anne Apartment Collection, you’ll surely appreciate all of the green areas to stop and smell the roses (or other flowers) around town. Green Lake, Gas Works, Woodland and Volunteer parks are just a few of the many spaces where you can go for a jog, host a picnic, play a game of tennis or soccer, launch a boat or strap on a pair of skates for a scenic tour. Seattle’s park system is composed of more than 400 areas with over 6,200 acres, so, there’s definitely going to be something for you to do on any given sunny or rainy day.

Safeco Field and CenturyLink Field offer a different kind of green – diamonds and 100-yard fields – to Greystar apartment residents who appreciate the great sports teams that Seattle has to offer. Home to Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners, the Safeco ballpark has gained quite a reputation as the ideal setting to partake in America’s pastime under a retractable roof. CenturyLink hosts the NFL’s Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks and Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders FC.

The CenturyLink event center and theater welcome scores of concerts and trade shows for Greystar apartment residents who just aren’t into sports.

South Lake Union is the new place to be for residents living in our Seattle apartments for rent. The popular neighborhood features tons of places to shop, eat, drink and be entertained. The area houses the Cornish College of the Arts as well as three art galleries. The Museum of History & Industry and Amazon headquarters also call South Lake Union home.

If you’re in the mood to pick up an oar, go for a row and learn the history of maritime, The Center For Wooden Boats will float your boat for sure.

While there really isn’t a yellow brick road in the real Emerald City, Seattle residents who live at the Queen Anne Apartment Collection including Eden Hill, Sweetbrier, 7 Hills and Towne will appreciate being near U.S. interstates 5 and 90 to get to the Space Needle, Museum of Flight, Seattle Great Wheel, Seattle Children’s Museum, Pacific Science Center and more.

Residents of our Seattle apartments are encouraged to hop on the interstate and head to Wild Ginger, IL Bistro, Metropolitan Grill, Canlis or the Purple Café and Wine Bar for exciting food and drinks. And whether you’re looking to simply enjoy a night out on the town or live it up at Trinity Nightclub, Re-Bar, Club Contour, The Showbox or the multitude of other clubs, you’ll always something to do in the great city of Seattle.

We’re giving you the green light to move to Seattle and check out all of the cool tourist attractions, so what’s stopping you? Greystar has an apartment home for you. All you need is to find yours now.
