As founder, chairman, and CEO of Greystar, Bob leads the Greystar Investment Committee, Operating Committee, and Board of Directors. He is responsible for the strategic planning and growth of the company, and maintains oversight over all aspects of Greystar, working closely with business leaders across the platform while emphasizing the Greystar Pillars of Excellence – People, Customer Satisfaction, Operational Excellence, Profitability, Growth, and Community. Bob believes that the company’s commitment to an evergreen business strategy allows Greystar to mitigate cyclicality, thereby helping to attract and retain the best talent in the industry and provide attractive career growth potential to all employees.
After receiving a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Harvard Business School, Bob began his real estate career with the Trammell Crow Company and served as a partner in the Charlotte, North Carolina office. In 1991, he co-founded Starwood Capital Partners, LP, a private investment company. In 1993, Bob founded Greystar Real Estate Partners, LLC in Houston, Texas. From February 1996 to December 1997, he founded and served as CEO of Homegate Hospitality, Inc. Bob also served from December 2002 until February 2006 as the South Carolina Secretary of Commerce.
Bob is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council, the Pension Real Estate Association, and the Urban Land Institute. Bob and his family reside in Charleston, South Carolina.“ From the very beginning of Greystar we have focused on being an ‘evergreen’ company. What do we mean by this? We know the real estate business is cyclical, but our balanced focus on both the service side of the business and the principal side gives us opportunities to grow wherever we are in the cycle. ”
Bill Maddux is an executive managing director of Greystar Real Estate Partners, LLC and serves as a member of the Greystar Investment Committee, Operating Committee, and Board of Directors. He is responsible for the management oversight of the company’s regional operating businesses and service operations, and is integral in implementing executional standards and growth initiatives across the platform.
Prior to joining Greystar in 1999, Bill held numerous positions with the Trammell Crow Company including chief operating officer for the eastern United States, where he oversaw full-service operations in 15 cities, and was a member of the company's executive committee.
After attending the University of Oklahoma, Bill began his career as a leasing agent in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with the Trammell Crow Company. Bill and his family reside in Charleston, South Carolina.“ If we have the right caliber of people – and we do; the right business plan – and we do; and the right amount of capital partners – and we do; then we're going to win. ”
Derek is an executive managing director of Greystar Real Estate Partners, LLC and serves as a member of the Greystar Investment Committee, Operating Committee, and Board of Directors. He has management oversight and responsibility for all financial functions and capital resources of the company including corporate and project finance, accounting, reporting, and risk management.
Prior to joining Greystar in 1997, Derek was an analyst with Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc. in the corporate finance/investment banking division, where he played an integral role in over $500 million of equity, debt, and merger-and-acquisition transactions.
Derek is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a bachelor of business administration in finance, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute. Derek and his family reside in Charleston, South Carolina.“ I was immediately intrigued by the unique business model at Greystar, the entrepreneurial nature of the company, and the honesty and integrity of the founder. ”
As executive managing director, Andrew Livingstone is responsible for leading the Greystar Management Services business unit, which includes overseeing the operation of the company's owned and managed portfolios in the United States and abroad.
In addition to being responsible for real estate operations, Andrew oversees Support Services, which provides support to our real estate operations and other business units. As a member of the company's executive committee, Andrew has played a prominent role in establishing the long-term strategic direction of Greystar, and in helping to position the company as a premier real estate services firm and a leader in the multi-family housing industry.
In 2007, Andrew was promoted to the executive committee and led the reorganization of the company’s real estate operations and support services. This was a multiyear process that helped position these teams to support the tremendous growth experienced by the company as it became the largest operator of apartment communities in the U.S. Throughout this period, Andrew played key roles in the company's growth, leading the integration efforts following the Greystar acquisition of the JPI Property Management Company in 2009, and the Archon and Glacier portfolios in 2010. Most recently, Andrew oversaw the integration of Riverstone Residential Group following the May 2014 acquisition, which has nearly doubled the size of the Greystar presence in the United States. Lastly, Andrew has recently led the establishment of Greystar real estate operations in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Mexico to support the company's growing international portfolio.
Before becoming executive managing director, Andrew held several other leadership positions within Greystar, including executive director and southeast regional partner. Andrew is a graduate of the University of South Florida, where he earned a degree in accounting. In addition to being a licensed certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he is a certified apartment manager, and holds a Florida real estate license. He is a frequent speaker at industry-related events and meetings. Andrew and his family reside in Tampa, Florida.
Scott is the executive managing director for the company’s development and construction group. In this position, he is responsible for the development and construction of all Greystar sponsored projects including site selection, underwriting, due diligence, product design, financing, quality control, construction supervision, asset management, dispositions and strategic planning.
Prior to joining Greystar, Scott was a senior managing director for Trammell Crow Residential Gulf Coast Division. Before that, he was a vice president of Summit Commercial Properties, a subsidiary of Los Angeles based Highridge Partners. He received a BBA degree in Finance from Texas A&M University and is a licensed broker of the Texas Real Estate Commission.
Scott and his family reside in Houston, Texas.“The foundation of our culture is built on trust and I will always endeavor to earn the trust of my team members and capital partners.”
As executive managing director, Wes is responsible for the Investment Management business of the company which focuses on the investment in rental apartments in the United States, Europe and Latin America through a series of investment vehicles with institutional clients. He is responsible for fund management, investment strategy, capital relationships and acquisition and disposition activities. In addition, Wes is responsible for the strategic direction of the investment team and owned assets. Wes is also a member of the Greystar Executive Committee, the governing body of the company.
Wes received his MBA in real estate finance from the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School. He also holds a degree in biology from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Wes is a member of PREA, NMHC, AFIRE and the ULI Multifamily Blue Council. He is also a board member of Operation Home and Wings for Kids, both Charleston, South Carolina-based non-profit organizations.
