No matter who you talk to, you’ll find that Orange County, California, is special. Representing somewhat of a sub-culture within the distinctive persona the “Californian” has developed over the years, OC residents are well-known for uniting to support local entrepreneurs and promoting unique neighborhood boutiques.

In addition to the fine dining, fabulous shopping and to-die-for weather in Orange County, it’s this high level of community bonding that really generates the area’s powerful energy. That’s what Greystar embraces in our apartment communities in this region. Discover how this passion drives the locals, their businesses and the OC culture.

Delectable Dining

California beaches are definitely some of the most popular attractions in the state, and locals living in communities such as Avana San Clemente in San Clemente and the soon-to-be-leasing Elan Huntington Beach in Huntington Beach are certain to work up an appetite while frolicking in the surf. Thankfully, the Orange County metro area is home to a limitless variety of locally-owned and home-grown restaurants.

From the shockingly fresh and healthy Bear Flag Fish Company in Newport Beach, which was started by a group of young locals, to The Cannery with its dramatic harbor views, it’s clear that Orange County knows seafood. But the OC does more than just fish and chips. Javier’s offers upscale Mexican cuisine with an extensive menu and multiple locations throughout southern California.

Got a taste for a hearty steak, sweet dessert or spicy Thai dish? The OC has it all.

Sports and Shows

The sports fans among Greystar residents living in Orange County will appreciate the close proximity of Angel Stadium of Anaheim, where the legendary Los Angeles Angels.

It’s no secret that Orange County breeds musical talent. The Observatory, City National Grove of Anaheim, House of Blues, Pacific Amphitheatre and The Honda Center – all welcome musical acts of all genres.

Stellar Shopping

It wouldn’t be California without easy access to a variety of shopping experiences and venues, and Greystar’s apartment communities in the area deliver. You’ll definitely want to take advantage of the year-round mild temperatures as you walk from boutique to boutique in Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach. If a mall is more your style, stroll outside at Fashion Island, or if you’re in the mood to splurge, South Coast Plaza provides ample opportunity to do just that. And it doesn’t get more OC than the relaxed, coastal-casual atmosphere of Bella Terra, where after a day of shopping, shoppers can enjoy free live entertainment.

Locals are well-acquainted with Balboa Island, which features a collection of the area’s most unique and personable stores. Every single shop is distinctive and brings an important element to the native patchwork of flavors on the island.

Year-Round Outdoor Living

The amazing weather in Orange County allows its residents to take advantage of year-round outdoor living. On any given day, you'll see cyclists cycling up and down Pacific Coast Highway. Stroll over to the Newport Beach Peninsula, and you'll find surfers, stand-up paddle boarders and kayakers enjoying all the water has to offer. If you enjoy having two feet on dry land, there are many piers to fish off of. The harbor area also offers outstanding options for day cruises and whale watching, and there are a multitude of restaurants with boat parking.
